Why do I need Jesus?

Clues to Jesus’ Purposes by God:

Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise to His people. His coming has a lot more in store…

Reading 3 accounts from scripture: Isaiah 42:5-7; Luke 1:68-75 and John 16:8-11(King James Version), we see 3 different time frames that convey why Jesus was sent to mankind:

Even before the time Jesus was born, Isaiah wrote about Him in chapter 42 of Isaiah. We see this passage in verse 5 through 7:

5 . Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, [and] them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

We see the message of  Christ’s coming to the world in righteousness, a promise kept to the people, to open the eyes of them that live in bondage and removing them from it and from its darkness and hopelessness.

Later in Luke 1, the same familiar message is conveyed 6 months before Jesus Christ is born, uttered by Zachariah, John the baptist’s earthly father.

68 Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

72 To perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

As it is broken down in each verse, so far, God’s purposes for sending Christ to us can be seen as 3 main points:

  1. To provide Salvation / Deliverance –  from our enemies and our sin according to God’s promise
  2. To destroy Fear –  caused by the enemy in the condemnations, discouragements, feelings of hopelessness, afflictions, lies, tricks…
  3. To live an example of a holy and righteous life – ALL the days of it

The beauty of the Bible, the Word of God is the confirmation among the messages. Reminds me clearly of the “testimonies of two to three witnesses” principle of truth.

Here we see a third passage in John 16, Jesus is talking about sending us the Holy Spirit when He goes to the Father, after His death on the cross

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

8 And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:

The word “reprove” means: convict, convince, rebuke. From this, we see the very same points previously seen in the book of Luke why Jesus came, but this time, the Holy Spirit will convict, convince, rebuke the world of these things:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

In essence, we find that while Jesus Christ is no longer physically present with us, the Holy Spirit will reprove us of three things reminding us of Him: that sin persists if we continue to disbelieve Him; that without Christ, it is futile to live a righteous life; and that there is sure judgement for satan and those who chose to oppose God.

Quite wonderful, consistent words through time! In this we can expect the Holy Spirit to…

  1. expose our sin, convicting us, leading us to Faith in Jesus Christ and Salvation through Him (verse 9).
  2. change us, by leading us to follow Jesus’ life and teachings, our best example of righteousness (verse 10).
  3. remind us that Jesus has conquered our enemies and that  there is nothing to Fear in our obedience to God. (verse 11)

 Praise you Lord God for what you have done, through your Son Jesus Christ!

Jesus Christ is the only mediator, see 1 Timothy 2: 5-7~

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

side note: Christianity is the only ‘religion’ that declares God coming down from heaven to reach out to His lost creation. All the rest of the different beliefs, sects, cults maintain a plethora of gods hungry for worship and human sacrifice both dead or alive but never a message of salvation and rescue of man from a real enemy.

Revelation chapter 5 tells of John’s vision about heaven and reveals Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah is the only one worthy to open and read the book with the seven seals from the right hand of God.

Chapter 5
1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Why do I need Jesus, you may ask? – He died for every sinner like me and you. He is the only acceptable sacrifice, only by His name can anyone be saved, Acts 4:12 says:

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

You are free to come to God through Christ. HE IS ALL YOU NEED. No one else can save you.

Several other verses revealing God’s love saving us: by the blood of Jesus Christ

  • John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
  • Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
  • Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
  • 1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
  • Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

 If you haven’t taken that step, do this right now! – Turn away from your sins and repent. Remember what Jesus did for you as He shed His blood to wash your sins away. Ask Jesus Christ of Nazareth who died on the cross for you to forgive you and become your personal Lord and Saviour and ask Him to change you by the workings of the Holy Spirit and perfect you by His grace and mercy. Praise the Lord your God for this gift.

This simple process is called God’s Mercy and Grace. You don’t deserve this but He gave you an even better gift – Eternal Life. Its not because of your goodness but its God’s greatness. So be humble and tell your family and friends to do the same if you want to be with them after this physical body dies. Seek God while He can be found, before its too late.

Proverbs 8:17 says:

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Now, rejoice and kiss your fears goodbye. The enemy has no power over you once you are in Christ… DO NOT fall for the enemy’s lies. Satan’s days are growing short. The devil will try to gather as much as he could, don’t be one of them that fell.

Your inheritance is waiting for you. Be encouraged, while you are living in the world, live it for Christ and follow His Words, be with others who are in Christ and share to others the good news of what God has done for you.

Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ has triumphed over death and hell. The war is over, Praise the Lord, God has won the battle. You are free. Stand up and claim the Victory in Christ.

My hope and prayer for you: May the Lord bless you and keep you from falling and ever increase your faith in full measure. May you encourage others and be encouraged yourself as you continue to grow in Love, Faith and Purity. In Jesus Christ the Messiah’s name we pray this, grant it dear Father. Thank you Lord. Amen.
