In my study of 2 Timothy 3 back in July of this year, I found this treasure chest of truth that makes relevant sense. Its an exceptional book, this Bible, nothing like it ever comes close. Truly more than 400 years old, the KJV is older than the American nation, the papyra where the words came from is way older than that. Through all that time, God’s providence and outpouring of grace has always allowed us to know the truth in spite of the changes in our lifestyles since the world began. Some of us have kept the old paths of wisdom with a dependency on God to run our daily matters of simple but fulfilling lives, others have slowly trusted on the work of their hands and by steady gaining of wealth and prosperity, others with pride have fully turned their backs on the now known ‘archaic’ ways of the Christian life and has denounced God’s very existence. Which ever way we fit the category, we need to know that Truth never left our midst.
Why is there a need for a Pure Bible?
1.) ALL scriptures is where we get our doctrine, reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness, making us perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works…2 Timothy 3 says:
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2.) The Gospel of Salvation to Eternal Life comes from the scriptures…the following passages are consistent all throughout the bible…
Romans 16 says:
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
3.) You can be wrong in your thinking by not knowing the scriptures…
Matthew 22 says:
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mark 12 say the same thing:
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
4.) Because there are unlearned and unstable men who pervert the scriptures…this is a persistent warning all over the passages pertaining the coming days before the Lord returns.
2Peter 3 describes how they disregard the truth :
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
For they resist the truth as 2 Timothy 3 says…
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
If we didn’t have the true record of God’s word, we have a false hope, miserable and lost in our sin. Its truly a great gift that God has given us, His preserved word from a time where we “weren’t” until the time when we “aren’t”.
David in Psalm 138 says God magnified His word above His name…
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
And Psalm 12 says he preserved His words forever…
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The harmony of the gospels show why we are sure we have God’s Word that He preserved…
- Matthew 24:35 ~ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
- Mark 13:31 ~ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
- Luke 21:33 ~ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
From the mouths of three witnesses shall a word be established…
- 2 Corinthians 13:1 ~ This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
